چکیده

with possible confounding factors, such as hematologic disease exemplified by thalassemia, an inherited hemoglobin disorder. A previous study has shown that cases with underlying thalassemia usually present with high EPO level [2] . Because bypass graft surgery can be seen in patients with thalassemia in clinical practice [3] SVG should be expected. Hence, the relationship between SVG and serum EPO levels should be different from the observation by Kocaoğlu et al. [1] .

Saphenous Vein Graft Disease Is Associated with a Low Serum Erythropoietin Level

OBJECTIVE To measure the serum erythropoietin (EPO) level in patients with saphenous vein grafts (SVGs) and to compare the EPO level in those with and without SVG disease. SUBJECTS AND METHODS The study included 85 consecutive patients with a history of coronary artery bypass graft surgery that underwent elective coronary angiography. Patients with >30% stenosis (diseased grafts) in at least ...

Adropin: a new marker for predicting late saphenous vein graft disease after coronary artery bypass grafting.

PURPOSE Saphenous vein graft disease (SVGD), defined as an occlusion of 50% or more of the SVG excluding distal anastomotic occlusion, is an important predictor of morbidity after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Late graft occlusion is a serious complication that often limits the use of the saphenous vein as a coronary bypass graft. Late graft occlusion is particularly common in old, de...

Correlation of platelet survival time with occlusion of saphenous vein aorto-coronary bypass grafts.

Platelet survival time is frequently shortened in patients with coronary artery disease, and it is one of several factors that might contribute to graft occlusion after saphenous vein coronary artery bypass (CAB). In 35 patients with CAB, average platelet survival (autologous labeling with 51Chromium) was shortened in 20 with one or more saphenous vein grafts occluded and normal in 15 with all ...

Association between Plasma Fibrinogen Level and Saphenous Vein Graft Patency.

BACKGROUND Fibrinogen is related to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. The inflammatory process in atherosclerosis may cause an increase in plasma fibrinogen level. Therefore, in this study we proposed to investigate whether plasma fibrinogen is associated with the patency of saphenous vein graft in patients at least 1 year after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. METHODS Patients...
